Spencer Shaw – President. Spencer is an eco-Entrepreneur and co-founder of Brush Turkey Enterprises, a 24 year old business with a diverse portfolio of products and services including environmental education, native wholesale nursery, ecological restoration contracting, ecological restoration consultancy and retail nursery Forest Heart ecoNursery.
This is Spencer’s third year in the role as president of Maleny Commerce in 2024 after a 3 year break, having previously served 2 years as vice President and 4 years as President. He wants to bring to the role of President a view that “Community is a key word to doing business and we’ll be working to strengthen our diverse community relationships, promoting the value of the healthy environment we live in and of course you, our great business’s that are at the heart of the success story that is Maleny”.

Adrian Anderson – Vice President.

Doug Evans – Treasurer. Doug has substantial relevant experience having worked in various business structures and models including member-based organisations, NFP, global brand companies, Sporting Administration, Health Services and Landcare. He has achieved significant cultural and operational change, brought strong growth, built profit & sustainability, and developed memorable profiles for some of the world’s largest companies and brands, with significant sponsorship and fundraising experience. He also has sat on multiple Boards & Committees and consulted to numerous organisations as a Board advisor and trainer on Corporate Governance and Strategic Planning.
Specific experiences include:
• Experienced Board Director – e.g., Deaf Connect, Club Super, ILGA, Industry
Associations, and Government Advisory Boards & Groups
• CEO for multiple member-based Organisations in changing, challenging, and growing
phases, implementing major Organisational change, Mergers, Board effectiveness
improvement plans, business model reviews, and Operational improvement programs
• CEO of major globally owned brand businesses
• Consulted to numerous NFP Boards & Industry Associations
• Lives in Maleny and is the General Manager of Barung Landcare

Nicole Hilton – Secretary/Admin Support. Nicole is the business owner of Qld Artisan Festivals & Events and NTH Events & PR, as well as Montville Chamber of Commerce Administration Officer/Secretary. Working part time in many areas (which she loves) allows her to contribute to our community on a verity of levels which is her passion.
As past president, Nicole developed some great initiatives such as the Maleny Gift Card and volunteers on the Gift Card subcommittee, as well as the Events subcommittee having a wealth of experience in events, PR and marketing. She enjoys working with such proactive volunteers that want to make a difference not only to our local businesses but our community in general. Her motto is “one person can have a good idea but many can make that idea great”.

Melissa Chaddock – Committee Member. Melissa combines her favourite place to live with the best career in the world as a real estate agent in the RE/MAX Hinterland team. Having lived and worked in the area for 17 years, she has a deep understanding of what attracts new people to the area and the reasons people become an active part of a vibrant community.
Having previously held the position of Secretary for the Maleny Chamber of Commerce from 2019 -2020, Melissa is excited to be back on the Committee to help promote and protect the interests of the local business community.
Fiona Emberton – Committee Member. Fiona has run her own consulting firm for 20 years, specialising in retail, libraries, museums and visitor experiences. She has also worked with retail and government in the UK,NZ and Australia.
Locally, she works with Maple Street Co-op initially overseeing the new look and layout of the extended shop. She now works on member engagement, partnerships and community outreach.
Her passion is for supporting local businesses by shopping local having come from a family of retailers.
She has also worked on and for Boards and Committees including Rangecare and Barung.
She hopes to bring a background in events and community engagement in supporting the Christmas Street Fair and the Sustainable Lifestyles Expo event this year, while also providing a willing pair of hands to the committee.
In her spare time she loves hiking, walking her dogs and working on a landcare project in Maleny.
Karen Shaw – Membership Officer. Karen is the proud to be the co-owner of Brush Turkey Enterprises. This family-run small business has environmental restoration at its core with a wholesale production native plant nursery, a retail nursery, community environmental education, consultancy and bush regeneration. Karen’s passion for environmental education is clear in her delivery of the Sunshine Coast Kids in Action Program, bat awareness education events and involvement in other groups and programs.
She has been a member of the Maleny Commerce committee in the past as secretary and is excited about being involved again with this dynamic group and looking after our new members.
